Jacob Week 1-2 : The first two weeks of Jacob's life have already been eventful. On day 5 his bilirubin levels at the pediatrician's office were above 20 mg/dL meaning that his body wasn't able to break it down and his jaundice was getting worse. We had to admit him into the NICU to begin phototherapy right away which helps to convert the bilirubin into a form that the baby can pee out. He spent 3 days back at the hospital and Michelle went in once in the morning and we went in at night to spend time with him and breast feed him. For the other feedings Michelle pumped breast milk and brought it for the nurses to feed. Those three days were sad however we had a chance to regroup at home and to get things more organized than the first time he came home. He came back and since has been doing great. He is feeding very well, sleeping a lot, and keeping us busy. We have been blessed by supportive family members and visitors who bring us food and love.

Jacob Week 5-6 : Happy Chinese New Year! Jacob experienced his first taste of getting red envelopes to commemorate the year of the rat. He seemed to really enjoy it and when we put it near him as he promptly attempted to start eating it. We are just happy that he made it out in time to be considered in the year of the golden piggy, a supposed very auspicous year. Other than that he also had a chance to vote during the super tuesday primaries and was right there in the booth as we voted for Obama, not bad for 5 weeks old. The rest of our days have been filled with trying to take some walks as the weather has been getting better and just lounging around the house everyday. He even had a chance to go out to downtown disney to meet up with Jon and friends. His appetite and poos have been getting stronger and smellier, while his cries have been getting louder and more powerful. His face is getting plumper by the day and he has already changed a lot since when he first came out. He is starting to throw out different facial expressions and sounds already. Its amazing how fast time is flying by.
